Four Reasons You Might Regret Not Having Maternity Photos Taken.

As a maternity photographer in San Diego, I understand the significance of beautiful photographs.

But if you’re anything like I was during my pregnancy, you’re on the fence about whether to have maternity pictures taken. You’re not feeling your best, you’re uncertain when to schedule them, and you have no idea what you would even wear. Also, can’t you just use your cell phone?

Let me give you some food for thought that might help push you off the fence –

Here are 4 reasons you might regret NOT having maternity photos taken:

1) Your body is accomplishing one of the most incredible feats known to humankind – don’t have only cell phone shots to show for it.

Growing another human being and then giving birth to it – it’s literally a miracle! And it’s your body participating in this triumph of human biology. Your body – the one you’ve been walking around in all your life, that you’ve never thought of as anything beyond ordinary. Give this extraordinary undertaking the commemoration it deserves.

2) You’ll look back and realize how beautiful you looked.

I know, I know. You feel huge, and your ankles might be grotesquely swollen, But there’s just something uniquely pretty about a pregnant woman. The soft curves and lush fullness that herald new life – it’s a way she looks at no other time in her existence.

3) You’ll miss how close you and your husband/partner felt.

With kids comes interrupted sleep and complicated schedules. But that’s not now – now you might be wrapped in the soft cocoon of just the two of you, sharing in the anticipation and wonder of the new baby you’ll be welcoming. You’ve never felt so protected and supported. Don’t let this beautiful gift slip away, unrecorded.

4) And lastly, you may not get another chance.

For those who want more children, it’s a sobering thought. But it’s my story – scroll to the bottom, and you’ll see the best photo I have of myself pregnant. I thought I’d get another chance, but I never did.

All I have to say is… tell your stories before they’re gone. It’s an investment you’ll never regret.

And finally…

Those questions you had, about when you would schedule the photoshoot, and what you would wear?

I answer those questions here and here.

I also have some great resources on San Diego maternity photoshoot locations here and here.

Lastly…

The words “forced,” “staged” or “cookie cutter” don’t describe you or your family. They shouldn’t describe your precious photos, either.
