San Diego Homeschoolers Deserve School Photos, Too

One of my favorite parts of being a San Diego school photographer is getting to create beautiful fine art school portraits. These are school photos that are so much better than the “say cheese” and bright flashes we are used to seeing.

And I love doing it not just for traditional schools, but for families who choose to homeschool, too.

This year, I hosted my very first fine art school photo day just for homeschoolers. It was so much fun to spend a few minutes with each child, finding out what makes them laugh. And it was wonderful hearing the responses when parents received their galleries:

“Hi Michelle, I just got (and purchased) the gallery!!! Absolutely LOVE all the photos!” – Katie

“Hi Michelle, I can’t get over how well the pictures turned out! Immediately made it my cellphone screensaver! We’d totally love to do this again!” -Angie

Why homeschoolers benefit from annual school photos

Even if your child doesn’t attend a regular school, there’s something special about having a portrait taken each year:

  • Marking growth – Kids change fast. Annual portraits create a little time capsule you can look back on for years to come.
  • Belonging to a tradition – School photos are a rite of passage for so many children. Homeschoolers deserve that same sense of tradition.
  • Gifts for family – Grandparents and relatives look forward to seeing these portraits just as much as you do.
  • Professional, natural portraits – Instead of quick snapshots, these are simple, classic, and full of your child’s true personality.

A tradition I plan to continue

This was the very first homeschool photo day I’ve held, but it won’t be the last. It was so fun and meaningful (for the reasons I listed above) that I’ve decided to make this an annual event here in San Diego.

Be the first to know next year’s date

If you’d like your family to be part of the next homeschooler photo day, I’d love to keep you in the loop.

👉 Send me a quick note at michelle@lovemichellephotography.com, and I’ll add you to the list so you’re the first to know when the next date is announced.

Because whether your kids are homeschooled, in a classroom, or somewhere in between—every child deserves a an annual school photo – and a beautiful one at that!
