Inspired by other photographers across the country and “The Front Steps Project,” I wanted to do something small that would lift spirits during this strange time we are in.
My sweet community here in San Diego indulged me and invited me to create a portrait (from a safe distance!) of their families in front of their homes, to document this interesting chapter in their lives.
They also shared with me their hopes for what good could come out of all this:
“We all appreciate the blessings we have, big or small.”
“We all slow down and appreciate what we have.”
“My kids will grow to love beans!”
“For family bonding… our lives are too busy and we don’t give ourselves enough time to just BE….I’m excited for these free weekends to have FUN!”
“Families will make special memories that will last a lifetime.”
“For world peace! Sounds cliche, but let’s get rid of hatred and intolerance!”
“For getting to know each other and our neighbors in a more personal light.”
“I learn to slow down and love on my boys a little more…that I don’t take the small things for granted.”
Thank you, families. I hope this has lifted your spirits as much as it has mine.
